Baikal conservation project

However, the fragile ecosystem of the lake is now under threat. Together with the World Bank and the Japanese Environmental Fund, we investigated the problem of pollution of Lake Baikal and found that the state of the lake is gradually deteriorating every year. Industrial plants and tourist streams leave a huge amount of waste. Untreated wastewater pollutes the lake and its unique living organisms die. Our mission is to save Baikal.
We have created a project that offers several solutions to this problem at once. Its main task is to stop waste disposal from factories. Filters for waste treatment will be installed at each enterprise. A similar practice already exists in Japan, and we believe that it will be successful in Russia as well. In addition, we have developed a new cleaning system for the lake itself. This project is the first step towards a common effort already being made by volunteers and scientists around the world
In Eastern Siberia, there is a real natural treasure of Russia - Lake Baikal. This ancient and deep body of water contains the most important source of life for the entire planet - large reserves of fresh water. It is home to a variety of animal and plant species that cannot be found anywhere else on the planet. The preservation of Baikal is important for the whole world. For over 20 years it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
